How to Watch 55th NAACP Image Awards 2024: Nominations, Voting, Winner and Highlights





In 2024, the 55th NAACP Image Awards unfolded a radiant celebration honoring the extraordinary talents and achievements of people of color. Spanning movies, TV, music, and literature – a rich tapestry of entertainment sectors lit up and recognized. This grand celebration stretched over several days, reaching its climax in a live televised extravaganza on March 16, 2024. The iconic Shrine Auditorium burst into life in the heart of Los Angeles, hosting this vibrant ceremony. Both local and nationwide, the crowd tuned into BET and CBS, eager not to miss a beat. At the helm, Queen Latifah dazzled again, reprising her role as the beloved emcee from last year, her charisma lighting up the stage.

Winners and Highlights

The awards kicked off with early winners announced during a virtual ceremony hosted by Khloe Thomas. Notable early winners included Victoria Monét and Chris Brown, with Monét winning Outstanding New Artist and Outstanding Album for “Jaguar II,” and Brown winning for his collaborations in the categories of outstanding duo, group, or collaboration (traditional and contemporary). Other significant wins from the first night included “The Color Purple” for outstanding soundtrack/compilation album and Usher for outstanding male artist.

Special Honors

The 55th NAACP Image Awards will be honoring the following individuals with special awards this year:

  • Chairman’s Award: Poet, writer, and activist Amanda Gorman
  • Vanguard Award: Creative director and costume designer June Ambrose (already presented at the NAACP Fashion Show on March 15, 2024)

Nominations showcased a wide variety of talents. “The Color Purple” was a standout, leading with 16 nods. It made it is marked. Victoria Monét and Usher shone in music, with Monét getting six nods and Usher five—he’s even up for entertainer of the year. Colman Domingo? He made his presence felt in films, snagging three nominations for his work in “Rustin” and “The Color Purple.”
